I have around 58K avios in my hand and planning to fly from HKG to LHR with my wife. I am thinking to two way:-
1. buy 2 economy seat (V class) and upgrade to premium economy.
2. buy 1 premium economy and redeem one premium economy.
are these ways workable? and the avios under my name redeem for my wife? thanks a lot
On your avios page you can manage your “Family and Friends”. Add your wife there and you can then book an avios flight for her.
Or simply set up household account with your wife.
Both fine, you just have to crunch the numbers. I find upgrades into premium econony flying into the UK are usually quite reasonable as the tax and charge uplift is very small, but I’m doing it on a work ticket that I didn’t pay for so it’ll depend on the cost of the economy ticket in the first place.
You should be able to price it up using the “book and upgrade” once you’ve logged in, but double check the fare it’s offering you is the same as booking an economy ticket seperately.

You only need a F&F list if you have a HHA – which presumably the wife would already belong to. Without a HHA, you can buy a redemption ticket for anybody, so no need to set one up.
You can’t have a cash ticket and a reward ticket on the same booking, so unless there is a significant saving you probably want a cash and upgrade booking for 2 players on the same booking.
