Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club BA Shopping portal – “New” customer?

    Hi All!
On the BA portal a lot of retailers have different points earning rates for “new” and “existing” customers. I was wondering how is a New customer defined? Is it new to retailer through BA portal? Or new to retailer altogether? Or is it new to BA portal across all retailers!
    Thank you!

So if I’ve made a purchase on the website earlier but not through the BA portal, will I be a new customer?

On most websites it is trivial to become a new customer by using a new email address. I don’t do it much but this is enough and I’ve not found one using credit card or address information as a key.

Most email services use ‘+’ after your username to create an alias so bobshops@gmail.com becomes bobshops+feb2-2025@gmail.com.

For some retailers new customer means first purchase from an address.
