Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA status perks / not lead passenger (booker)

  • 70 posts

    Good morning,

Due to some fortunate IT issues that have been widely hinted at site-wide, I now have a healthy BA status that I did not expect to have.
For some bizarre reason, my partner does not despite taking the same flights – and I will not be chasing this up for obvious reasons. We share a household account.

My partner however has our next 2-4-1 voucher. A couple of quick questions for those in the know:

    – I presume I am not able to utilise the 2-4-1 voucher from my account, and that she has to make the booking under her account?
    – As I will not be the lead passenger/booker, but a passenger on the booking, are we able to use my status for the various perks for BOTH passengers (i.e. free seat reservation etc).
    – Finally, a follow-up question to the above. If theoretically a booking was made in WT/WT+ using her account, with me as a passenger on the same booking, could we also utilise perks such as lounge, priority check-in/boarding etc using my status?

    Many thanks in advance.

I can’t answer your 2-4-1 question but for the others you should be able to use your perks. You only need to be on the booking rather than the lead passenger

Fantastic, that’s good to know. Thanks MrWhite.

You can also be a ‘third party nominee’ on her account (and vice versa). You can clearly log in as her to do stuff online but being a nominee means you can also do things on the phone.

You can also officially use your status (silver or above) to invite your partner to join you in the lounge even if you are on separate bookings. It just has to be done manually by a person rather than an automatic boarding pass scan.

We’ve never had a problem with priority check-in and boarding or Fast-Track access with separate bookings although I’m not sure if that is official. Again the Fast-Track scan is usually manual. In our particular case We often have separate bookings, one a revenue booking, to maintain status for one of us, and an award booking for the other, to be able to actually use our avios / points / miles.
