Hi All
We are having a nightmare with BA.
We had issues previously with getting our flight ticketed (I did a separate post on this).
Basically we used a companion voucher booking Haneda back to Heathrow, and called to tried and add the open jaw leg to this which was Heathrow to Shangahi.
Initially they said it would be £200 plus 35,000 avios. They took the avios there and then but said their payment system was down so to call back (a lie!)
Called back, then they tried to charge £270, which was the original cost plus a £35 per person fee. We said there should be no fee as it is open jaw and all we are trying to do is pay for the flight as initially they couldn’t take payment.
Said we had to call again, now they said the price was incorrect and it needed to be recalulcted.
Flight got recalculated to £380 but they said they had to charge a £100 change fee.
We asked why as we aren’t changing anything, we are simply trying to pay for the open jaw flight which we couldn’t as their payment systems were down. Again they put us on hold and confirmed that we should not pay a fee but they had to call us back.
Never called us back, we called again, this time they are adamant about charging the £100 fee, we said no. They put us on hold and said that they would ‘honour’ it as we had been previously told it would not be included, but they said that it should be…WTF!?
They took payment details over the phone and confirmed it would be £380 and it would take 72 hours for the ticketing team to take payment.
4 days later guess what has happened, they have now ticketed the flight and charged us and taken the £100 amend fee.
Surely this is not legal? We did not authorise the fee nor should we have to pay this.
What do we do? Every time we call they say we have to pay it as we are ‘changing’ the flight, but we are not.
We have booked plenty of open jaw flights with BA before using companion voucher but never had this.
Please help!
I have enough avios to book 2 x flights using full avios and there are still seats available.
Can I ask them to cancel what they have done as it is unauthorised, and then book the 2 seats using full avios and then ask them to refund me half?
This would also save me £180!
