Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA tier points on partner airlines / Qatar Airways

  • 8 posts

I have never booked on a partner airline to get Tier Points / Avios but would like to do so.
I checked Qatar (I have linked my account/ member of Privilege). I noticed eg London-Qatar only gives 40 point but that is privilege. When finalising business class booking and putting in my BA account to credit towards, will these points translate into BA Tier points which I presume should same as if I booked direct on BA?
All posts I’ve seen only talk about the Avios but not the Tier which is important to me. Just need clarification – thank you

If you want to credit to BA Executive Club then you need to put your BAEC number in the booking, not your Qatar Privilege Club number. If you’re crediting to QR you collece Q Points – these are not the same as Tier Points and are not transferable (unlike Avios which are).

I’m assuming you’re looking at a Business Lite fare which gives 40 QPoints. You’ll get 140 Tier Points if you credit to BA.

Others on here have suggested booking on Qatar without logging in as it gives you the option of providing your BAEC number.

Also, suggest you change your username from being your email address.

Just resurrecting this thread as I have a return flight to Singapore on Qatar in the next week and am interested as to how long it usually takes for the tier points to credit as I will qualify for Gold once this is applied

A few days to a week. Depends is the only right answer.
