Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA to Cancun in Business – January 2024

Quick question – I am flying to and from Cancun in January 2024 – there have been some aircraft changes recently on my booking and seat changes automated by BA – Outbound looks like still on old 777 with 2 4 2 seat configuration and only 4 aisles of business ?

    Return has changed to a 777 with 1 2 1 in business and a whopping 14 aisles

Assuming the latter is new Club ? Just wanted to check views and I heard most LGW 777s do not still have New Club and full roll out is now delayed until 2026 ? Thank you

    yes the 1-2-1 is CS

There is currently one LHR 777 with CS currently ‘helping out’ at LGW

I don’t think there is any commitment to if/when Club Suite (1-2-1 as you have noted is the easiest way to tell)

Occasionally, the LGW planes have to go to Cardiff for maintenance and as Garwick don’t really have spares, a Heathrow plane with CS gets brought in. The seat map updates, but if anything else changes nearer the time (eg a delayed flight) the allocated aircraft can swap around and you could get Old 2-4-2 Club World with thr CS one ending up on a different Gatwick flight or back at Heathrow.

Are youbtravelling solo, as a couple or ad a family?

Yes, that would be a big plane!

If you see 1 2 1 in business, it’s Club Suite. I think more 777s have been fitted with them recently as I got a change from old to new for our June flights to GCM.

4 rows of J doesn’t sound right though, is there not a small cabin and a larger one?

We are also going to Cancun in January, we booked our inbound flight with ba CW and was club suite when booking but changed to the 4 rows of J you speak about a few months ago. Hopefully ours gets changed back to CS!

Yes, 4 rows is correct for Gatwick spec 777 business.

Yes, 4 rows of 8 seats – 32 in total which is the case for all Gatwick based (3 class) 777s these days.
