Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios BA upgrade voucher – how do I use my voucher on the outbound, but not inbound?

  • 3 posts

I have a BA Barclaycard upgrade voucher, and want to book return flights LHR – PLS (Providenciales) for me and my partner, using it to upgrade the two of us into premier economy on the outbound, but come back in economy (I Know a voucher can’t do a return for two).

I don’t want to buy separate return tickets, as that are £100’s more for one ways.

I’ve tied on BA, but can’t seem to find a way to do it, and can’t find a solution on the forum. Sorry for asking and feeling so stupid, as I’m usually quite savvy!

It’s not clear from your post whether you know this, but you can only use the voucher on an award booking. You might benefit from doing some research on here about using avios and vouchers, but briefly, you can actually book 2 separate legs on award bookings and not be charged any more.

If you want the whole thing on one booking though (there are pros and cons to this), call BA and they will be able to book this itinerary for you.

Your total cash element on this booking is going to be around £500 – this is fixed whether you make one booking or 2 separate ones.
