Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA207 delayed by 3h 40

My wife is on Ba207 to Miami (a380) tomorrow (Sunday) morning which is showing as delayed 3h40.

Am I correct in thinking she’ll still need to arrive at the normal time as if the flight is on time?

If yes, to the above, would I be able to buy her a biz ticket to say, EDI to get her into the lounge once she is through security on her Miami economy ticket? I’m fairly overweight on avios so happy to splash them on that, but wasn’t sure if there may be issues with me doing this for her. I’m Gold if that makes any difference.

Yes she needs to turn up at the usual time unless BA specifically contacts her to let her know she can arrive at the airport later than usual.

As for lounge access wouldn’t it be easier to just pay for entry at the Plaza Premium T5 lounge?

Unless BA has specifically told her she can check in later she should arrive to check in for the originally scheduled time. Delays can be reduced or a plane swap done.

She needs to use her MIA BP to clear security (to mark her as ready to fly to MIA) but when she shows the EDI BP at the lounge it will generate all sorts of alarms as that BP won’t be recorded as having been used to clear security and her photo taken for the domestic biometrics – even if she’s nit going to take that flight,

On BA107 to DXB today and a 3.5hr delay due to an aircraft change (A380 and a faulty engine). I might just be unlucky but the 3 A380 BA flights I’ve had in the last month have all had technical delays. Still a relatively young fleet (average of 9.4 yrs) but maybe harder to maintain? Annoying as won’t get into Dubai until 3am but can’t argue with using a plane that works and that they have the slack to have a replacement one.

Not that it helps you OP, but it seems this is the continuation knock on effect of the above delay @Seagull faced today, same A380 from DXB heads to Dubai it seems (Dallas, Jo’burg, DXB & Miami all served by the same jet):

The delay is still extant and flight status still showing “check in as normal”

I’m wondering if that’s to allow them the chance to rebook some people onto the 2 AA flights 11.45 and 12.35?

Thanks – she actually got a text saying to check in by 1240, so was able to stay at home a bit longer and no need for long wait. Hopefully can collect delay compensation too!

It will depend on the reason for the delay – knock-on effect on its own isn’t enough. She needs to listen out for any announcements in respect of technical issues, etc.

Reason for the delay is as posted above, the faulty A380 @Seagull encountered. Defo due compensation if arrival is sufficiently delayed.

Thanks again – currently expecting 4hr compensation which would beat the measly £4 meal voucher they offered!

As a data point, we had confirmation of £520 being paid 3 days after submitting the claim (wife is blue member).

    From home base? absolutely is.
