Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club BAEC Tier Point collection changes

  • 92 posts

Hi All… sorry for the basic / newbie question, but quite new to this, and the Tier Points rules changes are confusing me

I have 190 TP at the moment and have another 160 points coming my way based on a July Flight/hotel combo. So I make it to Bronze, and have 50 points towards silver. I dont have any more travel planned until Oct and then Dec

My Card / account year end is 8th Sept.

My Goal is to get to Silver, I am trying to get my head around what happens from 9th Sept to the new reset 31st Mar-25, and how many points I need to collect to get Silver.

    Many thanks in advance

Your new ‘year’ will run shortened from September to 31 March 2025, and you need 600 by then to reach silver. However, any TP earned between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025 count towards that year – so the 160 from July this year will count for both years. Whether the 190 you currently have will count for next year depends on when these were earned.

    Freckles – Many thanks.

So then 90 of my 190 points were after 1st April and “should” carry forwards , the rest were before that and in theory wont carry forwards.

So if I understand this correctly:

    Start point: 8th Sept 2023 = 0
    End Point : 8th Sept 2024 = 350

    Start point: 9th Sept 2024 = 250 (160+90 (carry over))

Target is 600, so I need to collect an additional 350 by 31st March 2025

Your maths is correct, but i don’t think there is any need to emphasise should or in theory as recent reports confirm the transitional system is working as advertised.

It may or may not help, but the other way to look at it is that as well as your 9th Sep 2023 – 8th Sep 2024 year you are also effectively now in an overlapping 1st Apr 2024 – 31st Mar 2025 year. After your TP total resets on 9th Sep you will get an adjustment later that month to add the 250 back to the running total.

    You’re over thinking this.

You have 1 year from 1st April 2024 to collect 600 points. September 24 to April 25 is sort of irrelevant.

Sounds like from 1st April 24 you’ll have 250 after your next flight so yup 350 required before 31st March 25.

Oops hit report button by mistake!
