I would be grateful for views on your favourite “luxury” hotel in the south of Bali. We are a family of five (kids, all boys, age 15-10), so we need two rooms or a two bed villa within a hotel. Budget can stretch, and I have been reading Tripadvisor to get a general feel – but there are just so many hotels (no clear winner based on the reviews…), and there seems to be a wealth of Bali knowledge on HfP which I would be grateful to tap into.
It will be the final 3 or 4 nights of a longer trip where we will have been a bit off the beaten track and keen for some 5* treatment. Wifi and great pool(s) are a must, plus a nice room. Good beach/able to swim in the sea would be great. No need for a nightclub. And close ish to the airport. Travelling in August.
Have been thinking Sanur or Jimbaran, possibly Nusa Dua (we will have had plenty of local Indonesia travelling by then, so really just after somewhere we may not need to leave – but of course if we need up in Sanur etc we would explore on foot).
Many thanks in advance for any views.
Are you going to visit the airport everyday? If not, the distance to airport doesnt matter – just budget extra time on the checkout day.
Do you have any hotel status or points?
Good point re airport – it won’t be a daily feature of our trip.
We have the hotel status which comes from Amex plat, plus some Amex reward points we could convert if helpful.
Some initial ideas:
-Conrad (with b/fast included from your Amex Plat./Hilton Gold)
-Grand Hyatt: more Grand Ole Dame-y, but great prices for large Club rooms/suites and own section of beach
-Intercontinental Jimbaran. Probably more expensive but also more expansive!
Jimbaran and Ubud would be good options – Nusa Dua is quite a nice strip, but very resort orientated, and out of 4 hotels Conrad felt the least ‘Balinese’. Four Seasons have a twin site deal if thats of interest.
Anyone a view on IHG?
We stay at the Amarterra Villas and Spa in Nusa which is part of Accor. We had a two bed villa with a private pool which was excellent for our family of four. Loads of food options locally and at the hotel
Thanks for all of the suggestions – really appreciate that.
Will take a look.

Then Conrad fits the bill perfectly, and because of it’s location there’s various watersports activities you can treat yourselves to.
On all previous stays, the late checkout they gave us was 10:00pm – perfect for a 01:00am departure back to the UK via DOH. If you don’t have status for a late checkout – they have a ‘Departures lounge’ which is a relaxation lounge with showers, etc so you can store your luggage there, use the resort facilities for the rest of the day, and have a shower before heading to the airport.
