Is anyone willing to have a guess when Amex might next enhance the BAPP sign up bonus? Anyone spotted a pattern to when they run such offers?
Just wondering whether to apply now or wait a little longer…
TIA
I think the last one just finished on Feb 21st (IIRC). Certainly don’t expect that 70k offer from BA again, as based on the comments from Rob that they took Amex by surprise by that one, especially as they had just launched their own 35k offer.
I think there was one that ended in August 2022 for 40k, again I think that directly by BA, as I remember seeing it when logged in to BAEC.
My hunch is that the next card to get an enhanced SUB will be the Gold (30k), as BAPP had one recently, Plat is currently ongoing, and that it will probably be offered not long after the Plat one ends. To me, it feels like increased SUBs are becoming more regular (maybe in response to Barclaycard), so you might want to consider waiting.

I started a tab on my tracking spreadsheet to spot patterns, basically agree with what was said here, nothing before the Plat SUB end.
I think the 70k took HFP by surprised but demonstrate a new high that Amex is willing to pay so I think you can expect a repeat but not till later. I have not kept long enough record to say whether it will be Gold first but it is the only card without a bonus for a while.
It comes down to will you kick yourself for not having waited, even if it was several months away.
I basically think you should almost never apply for an amex without an uplift, the number of people in comments saying they applied the day before the uplift is announced always feels sad.

Not sure that it was actually Amex paying for the (full) 70k, hence the comment about it taking them by surprise. I suspect BA will have contributed something towards it.
Interesting replies, thank you. I think I’m going to wait until after the bank holiday tomorrow just in case they launch something then (very unlikely I know) and then go for it as I want the 2 for 1 before the end of July.
Nothing imminent. By which I mean they tell us in advance and we’ve been told nothing.
There is something else on Tuesday though ….
