Asking on behalf of a friend – does anyone know of the following information:
1) Does the BAPP still do pro-rata refunds?
2) If you cancel in your first year (if #1 is yes) and you’ve hit the spend target for points, do you forfeit your new signup bonus? He’s received mixed info from Amex online chat (one suggested that they claw back the sign-up bonus?). Would it make a difference if he pays the fee initially and then cancels?Thank you!
Yes and no, although it’s not clear what you mean by paying the fee initially?
You have no option but to pay the fee initially.
Sign up bonuses are clawed back if you spend the amount of money, but then have refunds that bring it back below the amount. If you have spent the necessary amount and then cancel, shouldn’t be a problem.
