So I understand sending money via PayPal for friends and family with Amex can potentially raise alerts and red flags
Is this the case if using a Barclaycard sending payments to FF via PayPal to hit the welcome bonus etc
The problem is PayPal, not Barclays. I doubt Barclays care as they are getting their % from PayPal.
The risk is PayPal freezing your money because your transaction looks suspicious (under its money laundering obligations) and because it is paying Barclaycard x% of what you send but charging you nothing. It will only wave this through for good customers – if you don’t have a multi-year track record of using PayPal you are likely to be in trouble.
