I’m about to trigger my companion voucher for the BA Amex (non fee card) and was looking to cancel this card so I can make use of an Avios sign up bonus in 2 years time. I also have a Barclaycard that I have recently downgraded from the Avios plus to the standard non fee paying card, which I plan on keeping to use during this 2 year period to build some Avios.
My issue is that Amex have just increased my credit limit to £13.5k, while the Barclaycard only has a limit of £3k. Cancelling the Amex will greatly reduce my purchasing power, and increase my credit utilisation etc.
I’ve yet to ask Barclaycard about a credit limit increase, is there any tips to increase my chances of a decent increase? I’ve seen other threads mentioning that having another high credit limit card may reduce the chances of Barclaycard giving an increase, so I may be better cancelling the Amex and then asking Barclaycard for the limit increase? I pay both cards off in full each month.
I increased my HH Barclaycard limit via the app a couple of years ago with no issues. They may have tightened things up now but having big Amex limits didn’t seem to have any effect.

Good luck. Their customer service is uesless. I have been with them over a year. No missed payments and the balance paid in full every month and I cannot get an increase, just keep being told the generic ” account conduct and credit information” Which is bull as both are good.
How are you applying? As I said, I did it via the app, it was completely straightforward and instantaneous!
