Barclays just pinged me an Email with the following Terms (apparently its a special for Premium customers):

    **
You could kick-start plans for your dream getaway with our Barclaycard Avios Plus credit card.

Apply for your card be‌fore 2 Ja‌nuary 20‌24 for an exclusive Premier customer bonus. You’ll get 40,000 Avios if you spend £3,000 in your first three months.1

That’s 15,000 more than the standard welcome bonus of 25,000 Avios – and enough for a peak return flight to Marrakesh or Corfu with British Airways.2 And with Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming up, it could be the perfect opportunity to start collecting your Avios. New Barclaycard customers only.

    Offer ends 2 Ja‌nuary 20‌24. T&Cs apply.

That’s interesting, hopefully I’ll get an email. My 6 months without a Barlcaycard will be 26/12 and I am a Premium customer.

A six month gap just entitles you to reapply; you need to wait two years to get another welcome bonus.

It wasn’t an Avios earning Barclaycard.

I signed up few weeks ago for the Premium Account to stock up my Avios account again. So these deals will stack for me like the following:

    Premium Bank Account:

    12 x 1500 Avios
    25000 Avios sign up offer
7k Avios after 1 year (i dont want the upgrade voucher)

Avios Plus CC (ill apply in december)

    40k Avios sign up offer
    3k spent = 4500 Avios

    Ill cancel the card after.

Sign up Offers worth 65K Avios, vs 100k Avios last year. Ill still take it though, as its better than whats currently available and I need the Avios points :-). Spent recently fair amount of points for flights to Mexico and Hong Kong.

I applied via the link in my Email for the 40k Sign Up offer, but application was rejected.

Called Barclays on Friday and they said, that they will look into it. Heard nothing.
Followed up today via the Chat, and again they will reach out to the BarclayCard Team.

Any other suggestions that I could follow?

    Thanks

It really depends on the reason for rejection and whether they will give you any clues that would enable you to fix the problem. Unfortunately, they aren’t usually too forthcoming. Beyond BCs fairly well known dislike for too many other cards/unsecured credit lines and a rather conservative approach to the self-employed they are just very picky based on their extensive and long term credit card lending experience. Rejection doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with your personal circumstances; one can effectively be penalised for sharing characteristics with others that have proved problematic in the past. You have to hope that the Premier team might shed some light and facilitate a change of heart.

Does the link in the email points to a special landing page that mentions the 40k bonus? Just chatted with a Barclays representative and was told it’s open to all Premier customers and I could just use the usual card application link.

Was told to wait for their letter explaining why i got auto rejected online. Its a bit strange really as I cant understand why. I guess once I get the letter, I can appeal their decision?

Yes, you can appeal their decision once you receive the letter. That process will review the original decision and/or determine whether they need more information. While it very much depends on the reason for rejection, not many appeals will change the original decision unless there is an actual error or a data mismatch that can be corrected.

I applied via the link in December and got the card in early January but the app showed welcome bonus 25000 instead of 40,000. Did some research and found it seemed Barclaycard never cared to amend/update their app interface because the same issue happened to users who applied for the same card for the 50,000 welcome bonus back in April/May. See https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/50000-point-offer-saying-25000/ and comment section of https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/04/17/50000-avios-bonus-with-barclaycard-avios-plus-mastercard/comment-page-7/#comments

I reached out to their Support but they were saying I was not eligible because my application did not get approved by 2 January 2024, but I got an welcome email saying 40,000 avios will be awarded if I spend 3000 pounds in the first three months. Support insisted they reviewed my case with experts and I would not get the 40K.

Ask to make a formal complaint.

    And wait.

I reached out to Support via the Chat function on the App as I did not receive any communication (Email/Post). They told me to call them..

Is it better to make a complaint over the phone or via the chat?

    Thanks

I called and made a complaint and they told me i would hear within a week. Nothing happend.

Now on the chat, the agent tells me that my complaint was just taken down as feedback instead of a complaint and no action was taken. Awesome!

    Ill try again!
