Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Barclays Upgrade Voucher

  • 7 posts

    Hello,

We are looking for some guidance on booking with Barclays upgrade vouchers.

We currently have a one seat upgrade voucher from Barclays and are looking to use this when we book flights from London to Antigua, return for July 2026. We will book these flights in the next 2/3 weeks. We will also receive another upgrade voucher in February 2026.

My question is, can we then use the voucher received in Feb 2026 to upgrade our seats on the return journey from Antigua to London?

    Thank you.

“Cabin upgrade vouchers can only be used for British Airways flight-only itineraries with departures from the United Kingdom”

Thanks Aston, The return flight would be a British AIrways flight, it was really to understand if we could apply the voucher in Feb 2026, when we will have paid and booked these flights in July 2025

It’s not a problem to book return flights on the voucher (notwithstanding the ex UK provision) but you can’t apply the voucher to an existing booking so unfortunately you can’t book now and add the voucher for a refund of the class difference in February when you get the next voucher.

Thanks JDB, that is what I was unsure of “ you can’t apply the voucher to an existing booking”, thank you, very clear.

Slightly off-topic but can you book a one-way outbound flight with a Barclays voucher (T-355) then add the return a few weeks later when the return flight is available? I am in this position now – I’m sure I have done this in the past (same as a companion voucher) but I can’t find a definitive answer.

No, I don’t believe you can do that. Are you in a position to wait until your return leg is available to book? I believe that’s the only way you’ll be able to

Yes you can I did it for a flight to Montreal when outward J was available but not return. You will need to pay the change fee though.

Thanks! I am going with this answer 😉
