So I’ve got a BC voucher to use up by November.
Thinking OW EDI LCY AGP in CE
We have 3 Amex 241s with another 2 due next summer.
Price for flights is
Amex 38K Avios + £50 (with better value options available too
or
BC 45K Avios +£50.
So at least an extra 6500 Avios just to use the BC voucher!
I’m of a mind to just write off the BC voucher and let it expire as I just can’t seem to get any value from it.
What would you do?
They are different products so of course they are going to give you different levels of value that really aren’t comparable.
When do your Amex 241’s expire?
It sounds like you’re earning vouchers without a definite plan on how to use them? I would be tempted to change the BC reward from the upgrade voucher to 7k avios going forward to save them going to waste.
And do you need 2x 241’s per year? Might be worth considering downgrading, but be mindful of the income requirement now, so you might not be accepted later down the line. I downgraded my wife’s as we don’t need 2×241’s, but she won’t be eligible now if she wanted the BAPP again.
We do have plans for the Amex vouchers.
The BC one was earned alongside the 50K bonus. Have since downgraded to free card
Thinking about it, the Amex voucher is too valuable to waste on a OW short haul trip so I will likely just take the hit for the extra 7K Avios
