Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Best lounge in T5A? But not the BA northern lounge …

  • 23 posts

Started retirement travel recently and splurged out on business class

First stage, tried the BA T5A northern lounge … very NOT impressed 🙁

Looked through topic, and the T5B lounge seems better … well at least a while back
Is it still in mid 2024?

Are there any other lounges in T5 we can get in?
Will be travelling business, currently bronze, will be silver after next flight

As Ana side … tried the T5A arrivals lounge on return … lots better 👍
Wife and I both felt quite relaxed for the rest of the journey home after spending an hour or so in it 😴

There are 3 BA lounges you can use in your given circumstances

    T5A – north
    T5A – south

    T5B

Galleries North and South in T5 are much of a muchness, unfortunately! T5B is generally better, though more and more people are getting to know about it.

Unless you’re BA Gold or flying in F, that’s your lot in T5, unless you pay for one of the independent lounges.

T3 opens up a whole other world of opportunity … (but you have to be flying from there)

If the lounges are crowded and way too hot, I genuinely find it more pleasant to sit at one of the domestic A gates – invariably one will not have a departure scheduled so will be quiet. The aircon tends to be more effective there.

It’s a sad indictment of BA.

Was in T5 south last weekend – super busy at lunchtime! Always found north to be hammered in the mornings. But if you wait a few mins you can find decent seats over the apron/runway, and I think the food is perfectly adequate. Nice to see them doing Dalston’s cola (and varieties) – one accidentally fell into my bag for the flight 😉

I really fancied some ice cream on Saturday afternoon so was very pleased to find Jude’s Salted Caramel – didn’t put any in my bag, though 😂

Yes I was pleased to see the freezer full of ice cream has returned for the summer, the salted caramel is delicious. As you say not travel friendly though – so I had to eat two instead!

Well, they are teeny weeny tubs! We had some at the theatre a few weeks ago and it was over £3 each 😯

Yes, how to make friends – sit down with a tub of ice-cream! As for taking on the plane, I’d suggest decanting a couple in your insulated water bottle for a superb milkshake whilst sitting on the tarmac. Virgin seem to excel at these “cheap treats” that put a smile on your face – more Haribos needed!
