Which ‘sources’ are good to present to Marriott when trying to claim a BRG?
Does anyone use any particular sites regularly, perhaps via VPN?
The fact that you see very few reports of BRGs working is proof of how well Marriott has got it working.
When you claim a BRG, someone at Marriott will be on to the hotel and the route is shut down. Discounting is always locked away behind a requirement to log in to a site, which immediately disqualifies it from a BRG.
Hi I tried this 10 times last year and twice last week and all rejected. There so fussy it’s unbelievable … all the wording with room type t&c the way taxes etc are worded and show has to be identical for them to approve ..
Last one in Macau last week booked .. third party rate said taxes and fees included , Marriott said taxes included .. rejected as hotel said there are no fees at the property to pay …
There a quite a few success stories on FlyerTalk. I guess it’s a very small proportion of the claims.

What sources did you try that they rejected?
I used a comparison site but the supplier at the end was trip I sent all the screen shots of the prices etc (approx £20 cheaper) they declined due to above
In the past I have used destination 2 , travel republic and Hotelopia – they were all declined
Last year in dxb I booked the hotel via third party and just paid deposit £15pp they had a promo on with free half board (agencies often have this offer including ba holidays) Marriott website the cost was significantly more … once the hotel had the booking I emailed the GM asked if they would match due to it being our wedding anniversary and they did, I lost the deposit through the agency but got the points etc

Interesting, what a nice GM, what was the full rate and points?
