Hi, any help on the best route to get to Manila now….. direct flights seem to have stopped

Via Doha… yes it’s irritating that the direct flights have stopped and don’t show any sign of returning yet
For Avios, your options are Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines bookable on BA.com. Cathay Pacific and JAL are available but you will need to search by sector (e.g. LHR/MAN to HKG then HKG to MNL/CEB) – before then phoning up BA Exec Club to ticket as one booking (connecting sectors are a bit flaky in showing up online).
If you have Virgin Points, ANA via Tokyo is possible. It is best checking availability on Air Canada’s search engine before phoning Virgin.
Outside these, Singapore Airines is your best bet.
Re:PAL Direct flights – load factors were not high enough combined with lack of partner airlines in Europe have led to permanent suspension. All their UK staff have been let go along with the company wide bankruptcy so a return for PAL to Europe seems unlikely for a long time
