Looking to go away somewhere warm in mid feb and want to use Bonvoy points as they expire soon.

Also have 66k in Amex, and the bonvoy offer in amex

    Would love some ideas.
    Thanks

It’s easy to stop Bonvoy points expiring so don’t worry about that – see https://www.headforpoints.com/2019/05/26/when-do-marriott-bonvoy-points-expire-how-to-stop-it/

However, you should try to book something before March (for travel whenever) because pricing is moving to a revenue based model then.

I just booked the Al Maha desert resort outside Dubai for October @ 85,000 – 100,000 points per nights vs a cash rate of £1,500, so definitely a good deal there!

Feb is not great for sun of course. Marrakech is opening up I believe. Middle East is your obvious choice – the St Regis on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi gets good feedback. Rhys reviewed the Meridien beach resort in Dubai last year.

Aim to get at least 0.5p per point when you redeem – this is our usual target.

It’s warm, not scorching, in Jordan in Feb, and there’s a few nice Marriotts. None at the Red Sea beach thou IIRC, but there’s Petra, Amman and Dead Sea.

What about the RC Abama in Tenerife? The island is stunning in February, it’s warm enough to sunbathe and swim but wherever you are the view will be dominated by the snow-covered slopes of Mt Teide.

Don’t forget half term is in mid Feb though, so everything will be priced accordingly!

I recently blew both mine and my OH’s stash of Bonvoy points (650k) on 8 nights in a 1 bedroom suite at the Key West Marriott Beach Resort over Christmas when it’s $1k pn for cash.

I’d also highly recommend the Ritz Carlton Al Wadi desert in Ras. I picked that up (on Rob’s excellent recommendation) pre-Christmas at 60,000-70,000 points per night and the rack rate was £1000+, it was an absolute steal. Great resort in the desert, all villa, every one with a private pool, lots of things to do on site (horses, camels, birds of prey etc. etc.), excellent restaurants – nothing not to like.

If you’re prepared to go to the UAE, you could combine somewhere like that with some options in Dubai – I’ve always stayed at the sofitel in downtown Dubai or the sofitel at the palm – both great hotels too – there are often some decent cash rates. The Expo (on until end of March I think?) is well worth a visit and would be a reason to get out to the UAE, it’s very impressive.
