Best “value” conversion of Membership Rewards points

Hi
We’re considering a short family break to NY or Washington.
I’d hope to burn some of my MR Points to cover a lot of the hotel cost. Bearing in mind the conversion factor from MR to Bonvoy, Hilton, Radisson etc, would anyone have any experience or advice as to the best value when redeeming MR’s in North American hotels?
Or is conversion to hotel loyalty schemes considered poor value?

Transfer to hotel schemes are considered ‘slightly less valuable’ than to airline programs.
Unless there are transfer bonuses or some really good redemption deals. You’ll hate me for saying that you missed a 30% transfer bonus to Marriott last month.

Do you have any hotel status?
If not, some have suggested the likes of Hampton inn & suites as the breakfast is included in the price and they are decent value for money. You can check the points cost before you transfer the points. If you have Hilton elite status, you also get 5th night free. Similarly, in Marriott, you get 5th night free. Might be worth booking 5 nights at a time.
Radisson is the worst, strike it off the list for redemptions.

Bear in mind though that in NYC particularly you often see the hotels which include breakfast (like Hampton and HIEX) at completely insane prices for what they are, and substantially higher than better-quality hotels. In these instances you’re better booking a nicer hotel and making your own breakfast arrangements!

If you’ve got HH gold status from the Platinum card you get a daily credit which you can put towards breakfast.

I’ll not bother with a transfer

I’ve the usual status’s (stati?) that comes with Amex Plat. Also have a a couple of hundred thousand Radisson Points though, so that might get me a free coffee or at best a breakfast given their devaluation. 🤬
