I am traveling LON to Melbourne with Qatar next month. Its me and wife and 4 kids so potential for lots of avios.
I have two questions.
1. Which FF should i enter. Do i earn more avios with BA or Qatar? From my limited google search it seems to be qatar but wondering if anyone has experience.
2. If I earn with qatar can i trasfer them all to BA even my those earned from wife and children or just individula. I see mixed reports onlien so wondering if anyone has experience with this. If i cant the maybe its better off just earnign them on BA as I will prob end up spending them on BA.Thanks
Because of the kids, you really need to use BA.
I’m not even sure if Qatar lets kids have accounts, and if they do it won’t allow you to transfer them to BA (I think).
Set up BA accounts for the kids (you need to open a Household Account with your wife before you can do this) and credit the flights there.
There’s also a Plan B.
If you don’t have a Qatar account, there is usually a sign-up bonus for your first flight. For example https://www.qatarairways.com/en/Privilege-Club/join-now.html?promoCode=JOIN0325
You COULD open Qatar accounts for you and your wife and credit YOUR flights there, picking up a sign up bonus. Transfer them to your BA accounts later.
Credit the kids flights directly to their BA accounts.
Rob, Qatar lets kids have separate membership accounts but all under adult’s main account. Hence you can have all the avios earned for your kid’s flight.
