Best way to maximize American Express Membership Rewards points

Is it converting them into airline points like Avios? Or are there better ways to maximize its value?

Be aware, hotel points are offering (for me) lots of value at the moment, over Rob’s baseline estimates. This is due to high cash prices and the places I want to go. Even without high prices hotel points are easier to spend (for me) than airline points. If you can see good value in a transfer to a hotel scheme, do it. Airlines often have poor availability and high charges, and sometimes the availability is gone by the time the MRs have transferred.

I agree with all of this.
I was first attracted to HfP for avios, but these days almost all my transfers are to Marriott + Hilton, adding to what I get from my Visa and MCards, which among them cover IHG as well as Marriott + Hilton.
As we are doing more Eurostar journeys than air journeys too, will probably move some points to Club Eurostar.
We are always looking for decent value hotel stays, our flights to Valencia last month were our first flights for nearly 4 years.
