Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Marriott Bonvoy Big pricing discrepancy with Hotels.com

Not sure what’s up here. Been looking at the pricing of London City Airport Courtyard hotel. Tu – Th this week, best price on Marriott.com is £ 292 for the two nights (member flexible), on hotels.com it’s £ 185 (non-refundable rate).

I’d expect Marriott direct to be a few pounds cheaper, not £100 more expensive. The lack of flex doesn’t really account for this difference either.

Call the hotel directly, see what they can offer on a non-flex rate

Ignore this — I put the wrong dates in!

I had this with the Hilton Doubletree at MAN – hotels.com was £30 cheaper. I think hotels will manage to find a tiny difference in the Ts and Cs to refuse to price match.

I might do that anyway — with the correct dates it’s still £20/night cheaper in hotels.com’s favour.

We’ve used the Marriott price match a couple of times already this year and been reasonably successful with it. We saw one hotel going for €180 per night on hotels.com and €200 on Marriott, filed the price match and they beat the advertised rate by 25%, so our total price was €135. We’ve also done it with another in New York where we ended up saving quite a bit.

We did have one unsuccessful request after finding out one hotel included the city tax on the Marriott site but not on hotels.com

Overall though it didn’t take much effort at all and got us a decent saving

Not comparable surely, you’re comparing a flexible rate on Marriott to a non-refundable on Hotels?
