Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Billhop and Avios Mastercard [compatible?]

Has anyone else had issues trying to add their Barclaycard Avios Mastercard to Billhop? I’ve tried twice today and keep getting error saying not authorised. Want to check if others having the same issue or just me! Thanks

Yes it’s compatible but a total faff to set up. There is a security block on the card, which I only found out by reading every BC related comment on the forums. My scenario was I couldn’t do any online transactions. After trying a transaction with a well known online retailer, I called and asked to be put in touch with the fraud team. They escalated as they couldn’t find the transaction. Finally, it was found on “another system”. Having spoken to 3 different teams and going through the security checks with them, it was sorted. They may say it’s Billhop’s issue but it a not.

It seems very odd to use a mastercard or visa with Billhop – you could avoid the 2.95% fee by using Curve or Revolut, surely?

Not if the payee doesn’t take cards at all.

Revolut can be used for bank transfers as well as card payments – for the next 3 weeks at least!
