Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Book for others with the voucher? Agent says I should be one of the travellers.

  • 32 posts

    Hi,

I did a quick search on HFP and found a topic that says you can book for others with the voucher, and you don’t have to be flying yourself. So, I called the agent to make a booking for my parents. However, the agent I spoke to said that the terms require me to be flying as well.

I just want to know if it is still permitted. Should I proceed with making the booking as usual and provide my parents’ names when asked by the agent?

    Thanks.

Do you have VS status…maybe that’s why

    Yes I have, I’m gold.

Presumably your intention is to use it as a 2-4-1 (rather than as upgrade) voucher. Ensure your parents (or at least one) have FC accounts, and request to gift your voucher to one parent who can take the other as companion.

Yes I want to use it as 241. So in this case (gift the voucher to one of my parents), the second passenger will cost 50% points as my parents don’t have status?

Officially that would be the case, but I wonder if worth pleading leniency by emphasising the points are coming from a gold member. Have no personal experience, but it’s all such a manual process so you never know.

It’s long been the case that, technically, you have to fly with your own voucher, but the workaround – as suggested, and which many agents know – is to gift the voucher.
