Book room for my partner – not sure if I’ll also stay or not

Can I book a room (in the UK) even if I’m not sure if I’ll actually be able to stay or not?

Would adding my partner’s name as an addition guest be enough?

I need to pay with my card as I have a Hilton offer. We both have status, but I’m not sure if I can use my Amex card to book under a different name.

Add in the notes that the 2nd guest will check in first. Never heard of it being a problem in the UK although it is in territories where checking ID/credit cards is a normal or mandatory part of the check in process.

I booked a room at Heathrow garden Hilton last week for my Son and wife as they had an early morning flight I added him to booking no problem checking in. My booking was with points.
