Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Booking AF/KLM flight using Virgin Points

  • 1 post

Trying to book a one way biz flight to BKK on either Air France or KLM in either December or January ( am very flexible on dates). There appears to be a lot of availability on either airline according to seatspy but am finding nothing on the VA website. Despite ticking the flexible dates box, I keep having to manually search by individual date without any success

Wondering if someone in the community has a tip to improve my searching efforts or if I’m missing an obvious step. Much appreciated

Ring Virgin. They were able to book the rtn part of a flight that I couldn’t find on line when I took a chance and asked while I could only see the outbound flight with KLM. I saved over £800 for two BHD/AMS in business!

The completely non-intuitive way to do this is as follows:

From the VS homepage, add your route, and a random date then click Flexible Dates and then the red arrow. (dont search for reward flights at this screen, leave it as cash)

Next screen click Edit Search, and change to Points, (leave it as economy and click the red arrow again

Next screen click Price Calendar and you should get a month view of economy flights that you can scroll forward and back

Then at this point with calendar view, you can Edit Search again and choose PE or UC and click the red arrow

Note that lots of availability on Seat Spy will include many dates Virgin can’t book due to AF/KLM premium pricing. Seat Spy is pretty much useless for searching for partner availability on these two airlines.
