Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Advice on booking the return of a 2-4-1 redemption flight

Hi all, I need some advice please?

I booked a flight NCL-LHR-LAS a few days ago as soon as the booking window opened (i.e. 355 days in advance) using my AmEx 2-4-1 voucher

I’m now trying to get the return flights added, as it’s 355 days from when I want to come back. I rang the regular BA Customer Service line (0800 727800), but after 40 minutes on hold the agent wasn’t able to help, saying the the redemptions team was too busy to take my call. After some pressure he gave me another number to call which seems to be the Bronze EC members’ line (0800 597 7580) (I’m a Blue member BTW)

I was on hold there for an hour, at which point the call dropped 🙁 I’m now on hold again (20 minutes and counting), but am wondering if there is any other route I can take, or other numbers to call to get the flight added?

Also, as the LAS-LHR sector is overnight, will I have to go through this all again tomorrow to add the LHR-NCL leg, as this is actually 356 days away at the moment?

I’d appreciate any help or advice,

    Thanks Nigel.

OK, update – no sooner had I pressed Submit on the above message did the call get answered, so panic over. The LAS-LHR flight is added, and I will need to go through the whole process again tomorrow for LHR-NCL, but there we are.

Thanks anyone who read this and was about to reply!

    Nigel.

So the Bronze number is the one that worked for you? Did they challenge you at all why you were using that number as a Blue member? Could be a useful data point

Hi Steve, Yes the Bronze line worked eventually – no questions asked about why I had used that number as a Blue member. If they had, I would have told them that it was the number given to me by the main CS agent.

Trying to do the same thing again now as I need to add the last sector. Same thing happened – on hold for an hour and then cut off. Not sure if that’s from the BA end, or my mobile provider. Trying again now, hope it works like yesterday.

    Nigel.

BA’s lines do that, cut off at the hour mark, that counts whether in the queue or on a call. Very annoying if you get thorough to an advisor at 55 mins and are still talking.

If you do get through close to the hour ask them to take down your number and call back if your business is not done by the hour cut off. They’ll call you back (often after taking another call).

Last update – success and almost the same experience as yesterday – on hold for 1 hour, cut off. Rang back and got through in about 40 mins. Flights now fully booked!

    Thanks all, Nigel.
