Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards Breakfast with reward nights (InterContinental Singapore)

  • 317 posts

The 100% bonus on points is offering decent value on this hotel at approximately £200 a night in November vs £270 cash. However I don’t see that breakfast is included in reward nights.

What’s the typical breakfast cost per room (for 2 people) in an intercontinental? As this is usually included as standard is there any room for negotiation?

Also, can rooms usually be upgraded to club lounge access? I did this at the Ras el Khaimah IC and agreed a cash upgrade cost before my stay which worked out quite reasonably, wondering if that was a one off.

If you’re Diamond you can select free breakfast regardless of whether the booking is cash/points. Is this what you mean by included as standard?

Costs will vary – I’m sure if you email the hotel they will tell you exactly how much they will charge for each request.

Based on a stay earlier in the year:

Breakfast is SGD30++ pp to add to the room rate or SGD40++ walk-up. They are very happy to upgrade reward nights to higher categories and charge the difference in best flexible rate.

The club lounge is quite pleasant and we actually ended up having breakfast there more often as the main breakfast could get quite busy at peak times. The lounge breakfast in particular had some good a la carte options.

Love IC Singapore. Probably my fave IC lounge overall. Ras Al Khaimah club lounge is its own building with own pool and terrace, but the food is less interesting than Singapore.

Upgrading to a ‘club room’ (aka a bog standard room with club access) is usually possible at check in. The IHG lounge pass has been a gamechanger for me. The lounges aren’t over-run like Hiltons or (some) Marriotts. Long may it last. The 40 night hurdle does seem to be useful in that regard; no credit card shortcut.

Jumping on the thread. Not been to Singapore for sometime and a trip now booked for next year.

It looks like the IC is a good option? I have IHG and HH status.

Thanks and sorry for jumping in.

Thanks everyone. I’ll give them a call to ask the cash price to upgrade to a club room as that’ll include breakfast and the other extras (canapés and cocktails in the evening etc). The breakfast only price per person quoted above (thank you) takes the total room price per night for my dates from £200ish (50k points per night including the 100% bonus) to £235 rather than the £266 price on booking sites. So a small saving but not a great one.

It does look like one of the best in Singapore based on Tripadvisor (it’s number 6 for 5* hotels) so if I can’t find a better one for the same price or less I’ll probably buy all the points and go for it and also hope the rate comes down so I can cancel and rebook.

For the IC Ras El Kaimah I was very lucky that they upgraded me to the club room with full access for an agreed price (as I booked a normal room with points) but they forgot to charge me for it upon checkout…

Try asking a luxury travel agent for the IHG Luxury and Lifestyle rate? This has breakfast included for starters plus some other extras. Including occasional free night offers.
