Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club British Airways ‘Family & Friends’ list Query

  • 1 post

I booked & paid for a flight for my mother around 2 years ago. To be able assist with all the booking issues I registered her for the British Airways Club Account with my email address witj myself as a Nominee to manage the account etc.

Fast forward I have now booked for myself for a BA Holiday to Dubai however as I already used my email address they will not allow me to create an account for myself.

Query is what is the best option for me.

    1. Change the email address on my Mother’s account which although not much has around 1,500 Aviios & then set up my own account and start earning points l

    2. Add myself as Family & Friends on her account

    3. Are there limitations for me in the long run if I stay on my mother’s account as friends & family as I really be the principle user and flyer and earning Aviios points via credit cards etc

I really would appreciate any suggestions Thank you.

You could change her email address but at this early stage this might inadvertently spark a fraud alert and lead to unnecessary complications. I have a separate email address for all my travel communications so they don’t get lost in the sea of junk my main email address gets; you could always just create a new one for your BAC account.

It’s probably going to be more helpful to be in a Household Account with your mother rather than be on a friends and family list. That way it doesn’t matter who holds the avios as they are used pro rata for any bookings.
