Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club British Airways partial cancellation – rights?

  • 12 posts

So, totally ignore my thread about flying from Manchester. I just got the dreaded email from BA – my Manchester – Heathrow flight is cancelled. But my Heathrow – Toronto flight is still going ahead. All on August 11th.

Just logged into my “Manage my Booking” and it says it can’t be done online & I have to ring them tomorrow

I seem to think my options are

    1) try to get on a different flight from Manchesterford to Heathrow

    2) make my own way to Heathrow & pick up my flight from there

Now, I am only on my current (very inconvenient arrival times) itinerary because I wanted to avoid an early flight from Manchester, which is never an easy airport to Manage. And when you have your own luggage, plus a team rugby kit, that’s not what I want to do. But if I am starting at Heathrow, I could have got an earlier flight

So, my questions are, for when I ring BA tomorrow,

If I fly from Heathrow, do I get a portion of my flight cost back? The equivalent of the MAN-LHR leg

Can I claim ant expenses to get TO Heathrow

Can I be rebooked on an earlier flight from Heathrow.

Advice please. My stress levels are currently through the roof

You can rebook the whole trip if you wish. BA is responsible to get you an alternative transport to Heathrow under article 9 of UK261 (right to care).

Reality is that they operate Pay and claim and often deny claims, so be prepared for that. Read other threads as this question has been answered.

You’re not due anything else as the cancellation is more than 14 days till departure.

Couple of options for you and your rugby stash to consider

1 see if there are any other flight combinations that get you from MAN to YYZ that same day even if it involves an earlier MAN flight

2 see what options there are to fly to LHR the night before and then stop over at LHR to keep your existing YYZ flights. BA would be in the hook for that under duty of care.

Any refund from not taking the MAN- LHR flight will be very small. Plus you’d have the palava of getting to LHR by alternative means and all the at entails.

Oddly, their email says they have no duty of care, as it would be my choice to not just cancel. I suspect that’s not quite the case, apparently

Have a similar issue from glasgow to Heathrow being cancelled but i asked them to get me an earlier flight, looks like they have done this as i can see the earlier flight on MMB and is an hour earlier (connecting was 90 min so now 16p min wait). Cant get in to choose my seat but thats not to bad as the other seat selections are still visable.

Update: I am flying from Heathrow now. But I can’t claim a refund for the Manchester-Hesthrow leg till AFTER my flights

This is the bible for cancelled flights. Only problem is, BA’s call centre staff haven’t got a clue about it. Probably a deliberate ploy by BA
