How about they just fix the food instead of offering significant sums in vouchers? I guess that would be too novel
I wonder how much stock of marble cake, etc, they have to get through. We still seem to be getting pandemic Tesco value custard creams and ginger nuts in the LHR lounges!

Because it’s cheaper in the short term to issue vouchers, many of which won’t get redeemed in full or at all. The furore will die down and the costs savings now in their budgets will be realised. To the extent that they decide to roll back some of the changes, they will recoup that cost with other less obvious catering cuts and CW food will remain rubbish.
It was the same with staff cuts – huge amount of noise, very costly in the short term but they reset staff costs at a permanently lower level and everything calmed down after a while.
