Hello, we’re looking to travel to San Diego or LAX as a family of three. We’re looking for advice/recommendations on business class cabins that have a more family friendly configuration, rather than the new individual 1-1-1 styling. Although I dislike the old BA club world, it was great that you could select seats so you were actually sat next to each other.
If you don’t mind a stop, you could fly through Madrid. MAD-LAX in business is 85k in business (and you can use a 241). They have honeymoon seats that are perfect for families. The main problem would be that Iberia usually releases only 2 BC seats per flight, so you may need to pay cash for one.
The old BA CW 2-3-2 is available on the upper deck of their A380s.

Unfortunately I don’t think the a380 flys LAX or San Diego
The A380 is scheduled to return to the LAX route for BA from end of October for the winter I think, so depends what your dates are?
You can be taking pot luck. Yes a particular plane type might be allocated now to the route with the type of seats you want but plane types can change on a regular basis.
And on most planes one of you is going to be sat across an aisle anyway.
So personally I wouldn’t get too hung up on it and chose based on things like price and schedule
