Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Buying car on Amex – options now?

  • 1 post

    Hi all

I read an article from HfP earlier this year that talked about using Cinch and Cazoo to buy a car on Amex. Unfortunately, both of these providers have since stopped accepting it.

Does anybody have any other places that accept it? I’m looking to buy a second-hand Volkswagen Tiguan, ideally. Transaction would be about £14k as can partx

    Thank you

    Rob

Didn’t know that – was hoping to re-run that article too!

Last time I used Arnold Clark (about 5yrs ago), amex wasn’t accepted by the garage I used.

The way Cazoo is hemorrhaging money it won’t be around for much longer anyway.

Bought a car from Cazoo a couple of months ago using Virgin Atlantic Rewards Plus MasterCard and received 28k Virgin Miles and upgrade voucher.

Amex wasn’t an option although Cazoo was making vague promises at the time about increasing their pool of accepted credit cards and payment options.

That’s interesting. Bought a car from Arnold Clark Inverness just before Covid and they didn’t accept Amex cards. Hired a car from them last Christmas and renting again later this week and they wouldn’t accept Amex for rental so using my Virginplus card.
