Cairo ‘holiday’ booking

I often book my BA trips as a ‘holiday’ by booking a hotel and/or a car for a few days and thereby only needing to make a deposit until 30 days before departure. Tried to do this on a Cairo booking and got no joy. Near as I can tell it isn’t possible there. Does the Egyptian government have something against BA or is there a darker sub-plot to this macabre tale? 👻

Just add a night in a hotel somewhere else, in the UK for example. Doesn’t have to be at the destination or even around the flight dates.

That’s creative! Not great value if I can’t stay there but if it’s a dive then likely good value! Not sure how to actually do it but I guess I’ll experiment.

Not sure how likely BA is to offer dives as accommodation options but if you’re planning another trip you could incorporate the hotel (or, indeed, car) booking into your holiday.
It’s quite easy – the system asks you where you want your hotel or car at the stage you add that to your flights, so just select one of the options. I’ve previously done a BA holiday booking which consisted of car hire in 2 different countries. The system still sees it as a holiday.

The Thistle at LHR is only £110 for two nights (semi-dive, yeah?) but somehow the flight got dropped off the booking. A work in progress.
