A pretty basic question, but I wanted to check my calculations are correct or have I got it completely wrong…
A one-way business flight from the UK to another European country is £360.
To redeem Avios for the flight, I’m offered:
– Pay 16250 avios and £0.50. The value per avios would therefore be £359.50 / 16250 avios = around 2.2p per avios
– Pay 5750 avios and £67.50. Avios value would be £292.50 / 5750 avios = 5p.
Is this really correct, am I getting 5p per avios?
If you would really shell out £360 for the flight in the first place, I think your maths is correct.
Yes; but have you tried adding on a return flight? Could be from the place you are going to or somewhere else in open jaw land many months ahead.
But if you only need one way then they third option looks a bargain, depending on what other airlines are available. A
My other option is:
– Pay 9750 avios and £25.
Based on some HfP articles, the recommendation is to go with the original pricing for reward flights, which would be this. Yet this seems to be worse value than the 5750 avios option, surely the lowest number of avios option will usually come out on top?
