Calling BA to add return leg companion flight

We have an outbound flight booked using a companion voucher and are looking to add the return leg now (355 days out). We don’t have enough Avios to just make the booking and then call up to refund 50%, so we need to do it via a call centre. Has anyone done this via the New York office at 1am recently. How long are the waiting times and any other advice to do this any other way?? Thanks in advance, Joe

Go the other way around the world. NY you’re trying to catch them at the end of their day. Call Japan or Australia or anywhere else where the day is just getting started. In all cases you are often reaching the same team anyway, based in India/Philippines [delete as applicable].

Make sure you call the exec club line, whichever country you call, just look up which ones start their day at the equivalent of 1am UK time.
