Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Can I add an extended stopover to a 2-4-1 redemption?

  • 63 posts

I’m keen to use a companion voucher to book some Caribbean island hopping with BA.

    Flight one: Gatwick to Antigua
Flight two: Antigua to St Kitts (five days later)
Flight three: St Kitts to Gatwick (ten days later)

Anecdotal evidence online suggests multi-city bookings aren’t usually allowed, but I wondered if this might be permitted?

Perhaps the ‘fifth freedom’ flight between Antigua and St Kitts would be seen as a continuation of the outbound journey, given it’s the same flight number (all flights to St Kitts are routed via Antigua).

    Any advice gratefully received.

@SandsofEss – yes, this is allowed. It’s not a multi-city booking, rather a trip with a stopover. You will usually be charged separately for the ANU-SKB sector when doing it like this so it may add up to slightly more than an Antigua return, plus the local taxes which can be quite high in that part of the world.

    Thank you @JDB.

I had assumed the ANU – SKB sector Avios + cash element would just be bolted on to the cost of a return.

So for an off-peak date in Economy, 9,250 Avios + £1 for two people.

From what you say, it sounds as though that might not be the case?

You’ll have to call to book this, so they will tell you at that point, however I booked NAS-GCM recently and was charged the RFS fees as you’ve cited above (though I opted for the old £17.50 cash option).

    Thanks @NorthernLass.

I called yesterday. It had to go to the pricing team, but has since come back costed up as expected, with multiple different Avios options. A good result.
