I have a booking with Delta, made on Delta website (wouldn’t let me book it on Virgin)

I put my Virgin number in but everything I read talks about the other way round.
Yes, you can. From memory, Flying Club is listed as Flying Club in the list of award partners and not Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. That’s the only quirk, though.
Yes – I gained my first ever Virgin tier points a couple of weeks back from a domestic Delta flight booked on the Delta website

Be aware that if you status match, you will usually lose your existing TPs (but your VPs stay intact) from the moment that you get your new status.
