Looking for some advice, I have a room booked for tonight and I’m not well so need to cancel the booking. I booked a Standard Room Reward on points, I couldn’t cancel through the app so called up and was advised that if I cancel or no show I’d be charged the standard rate and have my points refunded. Standard rate is £400 as the hotel is currently sold out. Spoke to customer service and there was no flexibility on this. Any suggestions? It seems crazy that I go from using points (free) to costing me £400.
I have Diamond status if that matters.
Can you remote check-in and request a digital key then remotely check out? This way you lose your points but not £400. Alternatively, if you have to pay the £400, do you have travel insurance you can claim on?
