I had 2 x Club World seats booked using Avios, CV and cash Open Jaw LHR to Bangkok, Hong Kong to LHR with BA. LHR to Bangkok was cancelled and Hong Kong to LHR flight departure changed slightly. I was due to catch a cruise ship but now the cruise is cancelled also. So i have booked a different cruise from New Orleans which will be nice but nothing like my orginal plans. So i am now looking at return from LHR to New Orleans in Feb – the outward flight has 2 club world but no the return. My questions, 1) Must BA allow me to book the 2nd seat on the inbound flight? 2) If there are additional charges ie taxes etc will I have to pay the addition? I have checked and it appears the taxes are going to be almost double what i paid for the original flights. Any help for you travel wise folks out there would be greatly appreacited. Thanks
The legislation requires BA to reroute you, but only to/from the originally booked destinations. While BA offers a concession of rebooking within 300 miles, that doesn’t help you here. If you now wish to travel to the US instead of Asia and you want to use the companion voucher, if still valid, that is effectively a refund and completely new booking and you will have to pay the taxes/fees at current levels and it will be subject to Avios availability.
