Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club cancelling BA holiday

  • 54 posts

    Hi,
Following a sudden serious family hospitalisation we may need to cancel our BA flight leaving Monday morning from L City to Florence. Ive looked at BA and found it says we could do up to 28 days before flying but I thought I’d seen something suggesting you could do so up to actually flying – but may have dreamt it!
    Could someone enlighten me please?
    Many thanks
    Bill

Book With Confidence allows you to cancel a BA flight up to the same day. Meanwhile BA holidays have a different set of rules and do not allow that. (You can, as you say, change up to 28 days before)

You can try call BA and see if they will allow you to cancel change the dates.

Sorry to hear about the sudden illness in the family and hope it gets better.

Since you are flying on Monday you can email the duty office – address is in your booking – and give a brief explanation of why you are cancelling. Remember to put the booking ref and flight times in the email!

Then you are in their hands with what they will do (if anything) for you so if they offer you a voucher or a rebooking then that’s their limit.

Otherwise you will have to try and claim off your travel insurance.

Yhey will have expected you to limit the loss by contacting BA in the first instance anyway so your emails to/from BA Hols will suffice for that.

You may not be in a state of mind to look for the emails. The ones I have are:

If you are currently on holiday, please email our 24 hour Duty Office team for assistance duty.office@holidays.britishairways.com

If your query relates to a Book with Confidence voucher you have been issued, please email ba@baholidays.com

@yonasl/ChrisC- thank you very much for your comments and responses. After much discussion during the night amongst those closely involved it’s been agreed not to try and cancel but to proceed. Nevertheless, we thank you once again.

I’m glad to read you are going to go on holiday. I hope all is OK for the person who is ill and I wish them a speedy recovery. I also hope you have a great holiday. Enjoy Florence, it’s a lovely city.
