Discuss today's stories:
Was just wondering if I were to cancel my V plus, a) would my points remain active unlike with Amex MR and b) after what period of time (if any) would I be able to qualify for another bonus on the card?
Thanks!
1. All points are transferred at the end of the bill calendar month
2. In 6 months you can register as a new user
Had my second card and got sign up on both. Just wait the 6 months as stated above.
And make sure the 6months is started from when the account is settled and closed, not the date at which you requested it. Not so bad with a 6month wait but some people have got that wrong with Amex, thus resetting the 24month wait. Ouchies.
And after a long break Virgin have started offering sign up bonus points again, a week after I re-subscribed to their card, so my suggestion would be to wait for the next one of those to happen again, whenever the time is applicable to you.
This may or may not be applicable, but it is worth noting that I have added way more virgin miles through Amex Membership points though than I ever have with the Virgin cards. In 1 year of Amex Platinum (with meaty bonus) I added the same number of airmiles I would have collected with 3-4yrs of the Virgin card, so it is worth doing some sums there to see what works for you. Of course with the Virgin card through you do get the companion voucher.
