Discuss today's stories:
I have had 2 agents now who tell me the only way to do this is with 2 different booking refs 1) outbound “econ” upgrade to CE by the Barclays voucher and 2) separate booking for return in CE using full avios. They say cannot be Open Jaw (as same routing), and they claim no way to price each leg on a different basis, even if I book outbound first and then get them to add the return later.
We had it done recently (although seemed very fiddly) but so far not got an agent who knows how!
Unfortunately don’t have 2 vouchers at present!
(Many variations on site and in Forums, but not found this specific one!)
Just make separate bookings. It won’t cost you any more in surcharges and has the advantage of being able to change or cancel one or other of the sectors without having affecting the other one. You can also do your open jaw regardless of what BA says, and choose a different level of avios and cash on the inbound (you have to pay max avios, min cash on the outbound).
