I recently (last 2 weeks) took out the Barclaycard Avios card and need to upgrade to the Avios Plus to take advantage of the deal… but there’s no option to upgrade on the app. I spoke to Barclays and they said it may be to do with having changed my PIN a few days ago. Any ideas?
The app chat are useless.
Phone the dedicated Avios Plus number (even though you have the standard Avios card) and speak to someone in the UK team who are far more knowledgeable and helpful.
The upgrade function is entirely random, you cannot request it to appear from any customer service rep
Its the same way if you were looking to downgrade from the Plus to the free card. You just have to hope the option to change card is there in the app, as it seems like you can’t manually change card by calling up.
I recall it took a few months before the option to downgrade card appeared in my app, but just as I was about to do it, the 100k offer came up, so now will keep it until February at least, when I should trigger the 100k avios.
