Can’t upgrade O/B only leg for 2 people

Have searched here and found lots of posts relating to upgrading i/b only leg (not possible) but nothing on o/b only leg for 2 people.

I’ve tried using “book with avios and upgrade using voucher” but that doesn’t allow to option to upgrade only one leg. When I proceed to booking, it only shows business availability and when I choose one (of my 3) vouchers it says I’ve not selected enough vouchers to upgarde both ways….I don’t want to!

Any ideas how this can be done other then a phonecall?

You certainly can upgrade either the outbound or the inbound (of a return ex-UK booking) only if you wish, but Yes it may need phone call.

Have you selected “one way” when starting the booking?

Also which cabin do you want to travel in? If you choose economy you’ll be upgraded to PE on long haul and CE on short haul. If you choose PE on long haul, you’ll be upgraded to CW (as long as there’s award availability in the higher cabin).
