Cape Town at Christmas

Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
Hi all
I’m after a bit of help here please. I managed to book the Avios flights to Cape Town for this Christmas, but I’m having a hard time deciding what I should do once I’m there. It will be myself, my wife and 12 year old son. Now, just so you know what type of holiday I generally have, we normally go to Dubai at Christmas – which I already have Avios flights for and I like a bit of Turkey in the summer. Road trips around America are probably my most adventurous! I’ve always wanted to go to South Africa though, so thought I’d jump at the chance at this. But I’m not sure if I’m putting myself under too much pressure doing it over Christmas
I’ve got a rough plan of doing the main touristy things in Cape Town in the four days before Christmas and then looking at a localish safari for Boxing Day for hopefully two nights. What I’m looking for really next is somewhere I can then relax for the next five days – probably looking for a fairly big hotel with pools etc but can’t find anything like that at all. I’m not worried about driving anywhere- I drive for a living. So really just looking for somewhere resort type I suppose! Maybe it doesn’t exist
While I’m here, any suggestions of a safari would be good and any recommendations for Christmas dinner would be appreciated
Thanks
Ben
We stayed here for our 2 nights Safari Feb 24, really recommend, not too far from Cape Town but not sure on availability at this short notice? https://www.sanbona.com/
