The only major glitch I have experienced with COT was when they didn’t relay the Avios changes correctly via email when it was first introduced.

But, I received a phone call from someone rather high up in the customer service team, and to COT’s credit, they fixed it: the next email they sent to customers had the correct messaging. That, and they explained the (then new) offering a bit more, and the changes did not seem as bad as I had once thought.

Similarly, in @Mynki’s example, COT had it drawn to their attention that their advertising on their website was misleading, and they duly fixed it.

For me, a good company is one that preferably doesn’t make mistakes of course, but if it does, then it rectifies and learn from its mistakes quickly

In my view, COT so far is doing this

Hope you find the perfect card @Mynki

People who are eternally grateful for the new rate can scroll past now. But shake those little pom poms as you do!

I’ve had a number of IT / App issues. I’ve just had quite a lengthy call with one of their managers discussing my experience and I had a new issue whilst on the app! So I’m still underwhelmed with them overall. However I do appreciate them updating the website very quickly. And dealing with a rogue agent I encountered. The overall experience isn’t a patch on dealing with AMEX or other banks in my experience though.

I did explain why their new offering is now poor value to us. I was asked what my dream offering would be, so gave them what I consider a realistic idea. Apparently this will all be passed over to the marketing team. I’m under no illusions they will require significant numbers of customers to feedback before making any commercial decisions. We also discussed this website, AMEX offers and the real value of Avios points when used correctly.

For anyone still wondering, the 1.25% conversion rate DOES apply to Avios conversions when pre loading your account. That was another point that came up. I’m mentioning this as it was discussed on another thread.

But I’ll say for one last time. Pom pom shakers aside, if you feel that you have been negatively impacted by their recent changes, you should call them and give feedback. It was worth it in my case. YMMV.

Ah, come on @Mynki chill out – no need for pettiness – personally, I actually respect and understand your view.

You’ve explained your position over two pages, you’re not happy – so just move your business ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you do find a better card, genuine comment – do report back.

    Have a good evening 🥂

lol. You don’t get angry about collecting Avios points.

This forum needs some smilies. In particular a tongue in cheek smiley! 😏

I’ve reported this poster, not only haven’t they let up with the rudeness and aggressiveness, but they’ve moved on to name calling.

This nonsense should not be tolerated, there’s no place for posters like this on here.

    Apologies, I missed this sentence.

The perfect card eh? I think that’s a topic worthy of its own thread. And as you know as well as I, it doesn’t exist. Just like the perfect airline and the perfect rewards program.

In my world, the whole airline reward program is a system you need to game for your own personal situation. You have to make the best of what’s available. But you know that as well as I.

I’d not actually heard of CoT until I found Rob’s referral link on here. I had IT issues with that too! But to be fair they did sort it out.

Anyway, I need to do some maths later. Seeing as pre-loading takes the 0.8p to 1.25p I need to see how that works out over a year. I’ve no interest in their lounge access and I’m not a huge fan of Radisson hotels either. I only have one smaller supplier that will take CoT and not AMEX so will look at our annual spend there. I don’t think it will be more than £90,000 though, so I doubt the pro card will be worth it

Add to the fact that AMEX also seem to be quite good with their retention offers too. And these vary depending on your actual spend.

They put me back on my original plan yesterday, and I was advised that I’d now be able to see the pre load option online. My point conversion rate has changed back to 1 to 1. But the pre-load option is now not visible. It was before I downgraded. So yet another IT issue. So it’s hard to be too enthusiastic about them when I’ve experienced so many app and website issues.

Hopefully they’ll come up with a more competitive offer in the future. With the very large sign up bonuses AMEX have offered recently, I think they’ll need to. Even though AMEX isn’t as widely accepted.
